At Ptasi Piknik (Eng. Bird Picnic), this weekend, in Krynica Morska, we will be at our booth to talk and educate about birds.
This meeting is attended by many students from schools in the Tri-City and Elbląg. We have prepared for you puzzles (with hints) concerning birds and ways to protect them in Podlasie.
It will be an interesting and fun event. The questions are simple, the goal is to increase your knowledge and not to score points. Here is one of them :
I'm an interesting species.
In Poland, I appear during passage in large flocks.
We stop here, while traveling north, in the river valleys, in the wet meadows.
Our courtship display can be observed here, i.e.: males attempting to attract females.
Males have decorative feathers around their necks, making them look very chic. Besides, we have many color variations, there are no two birds that are the same! Maybe that is why people like to watch us...
My Polish name is associated with the military:
- bullet,
- colonel,
- battalion (eng. name Ruff).
Correct answers are rewarded with a stamp on the Picnic participant's card. We also have souvenirs: our publications and T-shirts.
