Lapwings already benefit from restored plots

28 kwiecień 2014

gniazdoAs part of meadow restoration in the Upper Narew River Valley, we have managed to scythe nearly 40 ha of disused areas within just last year. We didn't need to wait long for the first outcome of our actions. During a field examination concerning fords to be designed this year we have observed 3-4 couples of startled lapwings flying over the scythed reed beds. We have also come across a nest with eggs, this way confirming the positive result of our conservation efforts. This year we are planning to scythe further areas, which are currently being selected. Access to until now inaccessible plots is made possible thanks to the fords. The first of such passages has been constructed last year near the Kaczały village, the next 8 will be set up in the second half of this year, and construction plans of further 7 fords are currently being prepared.
